Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) was founded in 1952 under the Government of Bihar. The board conducts two major examinations every year at the school level:

Bihar State Book Publishing Corporation Limited, established in 1965, is responsible for publishing textbooks according to the syllabus that BSEB has set for all subjects up to class 8th.
