Difference Between ICSE and ISC: Even though most people are aware, others may need help understanding the distinction between ICSE and ISC. In Layman's terms, ISC refers to the Indian School Certificate, whereas ICSE is for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education. The organisation holding the ICSE and ISC exams and announcing their results is known as the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, or CISCE. The main distinction between the ICSE and ISC curricula is that they were created for different grade levels.
ICSE Board Exam
For candidates in 10th grade, CISCE conducts the ICSE exam. The ICSE curriculum subjects are primarily split into two categories.
Part 1 includes:
- Lessons in socially beneficial productive work
- Physical education
- Education on moral and spiritual values
- Art
- At least one additional language from class 5th to 8th
All students must successfully complete these courses.
The ICSE part 2 curriculum is divided into Groups 1 and 2. Group 1 includes required subjects like geography, civics, history, and a second language. In addition, students must select any two of the following additional courses: computer science, agriculture science, environmental science, economics, technical drawing, commercial studies, a classical language, a modern foreign language, and science.
Group 2 includes topics including commercial applications, economic applications, and computer applications.
Students are obliged to select any one of these Group 2 disciplines. The weightage of external and internal assessments is 80:20 for Groups 1 and 2, respectively.
ISC Board Exam
The ISC examination is for 12th-grade students by CISCE. English, a compulsory subject, and a selection of electives are covered in the ISC examination. Some elective courses include sociology, geography, history, biology, chemistry, physics, and home science. The number of electives might range from three to five, although all students are required to take their English exam. The final examination for class 12 served as the basis for the ISC score. Internal evaluation of community and socially beneficial, productive work is also considered in the ISC result.
