The full form of IISc is the Indian Institute of Sciences. Here are the courses they offer, The Admission Process, and fee structure for colleges.
Indian Institute of Sciences is the IISc full form. IISc was established in 1909 and got the university status in the year 1954. The institute was initially started with two departments. Now, over the period of time, it has been increased to 40 departments, with an extensive and working campus in Karnataka. It is also popularly known as the TATA institute as the TATA group helped a lot in maintaining and increasing the domains of the university in the earlier stages. It was the visionary Jamshedji Tata who identified the scope of science in the country.
About IISc
Until the IISc university was established, there was no center for science studies in the country. In other popular universities of the time, the focus would be more on politics and philosophy, as those were the subjects that ruled the world back then. However, once the 20th century began, science started taking giant leaps in all areas, and almost 90% of inventions and discoveries took place. Jamshedji Tata predicted the scope of sciences and wanted a premium university in the country focusing on the science subjects in particular. The university once established never looked back as there was a considerable number of enrolments and people started regarding it as one of the best places to study science subjects in the country.
Even today, it is said that it is challenging to get a seat in the university due to the limited number of seats and the vast number of aspiring students. The university offers admissions to various courses based on the GATE score and other national-level exam scores. The cutoff marks for various courses in the university will be given before accepting the applications every year. Let us now look at some of the important aspects of the institute in detail.
