Industry Engineering Operations Research (IEOR) is an interdisciplinary program of IITB. Check here for insights on courses, placements and much more.
Industry Engineering Operations Research was the first interdisciplinary program of IIT Bombay. IEOR offers research-based M.Sc., Ph.D., M.Tech, and dual degree programs. The IEOR program at IIT Bombay provides a mixture of theory, modeling, and applications, taking information from traditional and modern areas of operation research, together with the help of a system view derived from long-standing principles of industrial engineering.
Introduction to IIT Bombay IEOR
IIT Bombay IEOR is actively involved in industry revolutionizing research, consulting, and continuing education. By providing academic programs, conducting continuing education programs (CEP), and carrying out various research projects of different types, IIT Bombay IEOR has contributed significantly to achieve IIT's Goals.
IIT Bombay IEOR is an interdisciplinary program where students, research scholars, and faculties together deal with the use of an "OR Technique" in an "Industry" for an "Application."
Industry Engineering
To understand the IEOR, one first has to understand what "Industry" is. An Industry is the production of financial services and goods within an economy which doesn't mean that the output is only physical.
Operations Research
It is an analytical method used for problem-solving and decision-making that are useful in managing various industries. Operations Research includes different mathematical methods such as Dynamic Programming, Game Theory, Statistics, Simulation, Machine Learning, Optimization Technique (Mixed-integer, Linear, Non-Linear, Integer Programming), and Stochastic Models (Queueing Theory, Renewal Theory, Markov Chains).
