JEE Advanced Admission Procedure for IITs
Each year, the counselling process for seat allocation and admission into the Indian Institute of Technologies (IIT) is conducted and managed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). It is an online process. There are seven rounds for the process of seat allocation, and it is conducted in a centralized manner.
Candidates must register for the process and enter their choice of colleges. There will be a time window given for this process to be completed. Post this the online counselling process will begin. Here seats will be allocated to candidates based on their rank and their choice of colleges given, once the process is completed results will be announced in online mode.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced Counselling and Seat Allotment
The following are the conditions specified by the authorities. Candidates must fulfil these conditions to be eligible for the counselling process.
- Candidates must appear for JEE Advanced 2024 exam.
- Further, candidates need to secure a minimum aggregate of 75% marks in the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination. This criterion is 65% for candidates with reservations who belong to SC/ST/PWD categories.
- If a candidate secures the top 20 percentile in their respective category in the 12th standard board examination will also be eligible for the counselling and seat allotment process.

Steps for JEE Advanced Counselling and Seat Allotment 2024
The first step for candidates is to check the eligibility criteria and ensure that all criteria are fulfilled. Any candidates who have any papers which they have not cleared are required to attempt those in 2024 and clear them in this attempt.
- Step 1: The candidates must register themselves on the JEE website.
- Step 2: While logging in make sure to use the JEE Main roll number and JEE Advance password as credentials
- Step 3: Candidates must use their JEE Main roll number and JEE Advanced password as credentials while logging in. Check all details and proceed to the next step.
- Step 4: The second step for candidates is to select the college of their preference. They should refer to the ranking of colleges and cut-offs before proceeding.
- Step 5: The authorities conduct a mock allocation round. This will help candidates understand the counselling process further and then make changes as and when required.
- Step 6: The entire counselling process involves seven rounds. Candidates need to choose their option from float, freeze, or slide.
- Step 7: After the seat is allocated, candidates have to pay the fees for the Institute they have been allocated. This will confirm their acceptance of the seat. This will be followed by reporting to the Institutes and will also involve the document verification process.
