Anna University to Launch Online Certificate Course in Siddha: Anna University will offer an online certificate program in Siddha’s traditional therapeutic medical system. The National Institute of Siddha and Hospital in Tambaram and the University will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The latter will help develop the course content.
Anna University added that the MoU would be signed within 15 days after the upcoming syndicate meeting. The course proposal will be thoroughly examined, and the course is expected to launch within two months.
Vice-Chancellor R Velraj stated, “It is necessary to promote the efficacy and usefulness of our traditional systems of medicine like Siddha and Ayurveda for the greater good of humanity. Siddha is very popular in Tamil Nadu, and we want to popularise our heritage worldwide.”
Officials from the university believe that people could use these learnings for their well-being apart from enhancing their knowledge. Officials from the university are of the opinion that, in addition to improving their knowledge, people could benefit from these lessons in other ways. The course syllabus was ready, and the content will be developed, according to officials, who also said that the course could be finished in 40–45 hours.
According to university officials, the proposal for the course “coincides with the university’s invitation to participate in the e-Vidya Bharati and e-Aarogya Bharati (e-VBAB) network project launched by the Ministry of External Affairs, which has an objective to provide good quality education to students in Africa through web portals.” The officials of the university believe that this will help in promoting Siddha among African students.
Along with Siddha and Ayurveda, Anna University intends to provide online certificate courses in various emerging technologies, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and energy storage technology. To develop the program’s content, experts are being consulted.
