CBSE Exempts Fees for Students Orphaned by COVID-19
CBSE has waived off the exam fee along with registration fee of students who lost their parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the initiative to waive all examination fees for students who have lost their parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The board has also exempted registration fees for eligible candidates. The provision will be in place as a special measure for the entirety of the 2021-22 academic year. CBSE representatives recently released an official notification regarding the same. This announcement stated that the board will neither charge examination fees nor the registration fees for students(s) who have lost parents or surviving parents or legal guardians/adoptive parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, the examination board has also asked affiliated schools to provide such details of eligible students while submitting the total list of candidates (LOC). Additionally, the board has requested school officials to submit this LOC by 30 September. Earlier, the central board had established major changes to their syllabus, dividing their academic terms into two. Therefore, term one examinations will take place from November to December 2021.
The application fee for students within India is INR 1500/- for five subjects. However, participating schools outside of India must pay a fee of INR 10000/- per candidate for the assessments. Furthermore, SC/ST students must pay INR 1200/- for the term exams. An additional fee of INR 300/- is necessary for optional subjects per candidate for schools in India. For schools outside India, the application fee for additional subjects is INR 2000/-.
