CISCE Will Conduct Two Board Exams For the Upcoming Academic Year

The Council for Indian School Certification Examination (CISCE) has announced several updates for the 2021-22 academic year. These modifications encompass examination patterns, scheduling, and marks formulation. The board has implemented these changes to accommodate the COVID-19 conditions during the coming school year. These guidelines are very similar to those instituted by CBSE officials for the upcoming year. CBSE will also hold two term exams, with the first featuring multiple-choice questions. Thus, other exam boards will likely follow suit with this year’s major updates.

First, the board has divided the year into two separate semesters, each covering 50 percent of the board syllabus. Hence, the first semester will have its examination in November 2021. Meanwhile, the second-semester final examination will likely take place in March or April 2022.

There are also several changes to the examination pattern. The first-semester board assessment will be an objective examination with multiple-choice questions. Additionally, the second board assessment will take offline or online, depending on the COVID-19 situation.

Authorities have stated that each semester’s syllabus is reduced compared to previous years due to COVID-19 constraints. Hence, each paper will be worth 80 points for ICSE and 70 points for ISC, respectively. Class 10 and 12 syllabi and patterns are currently available on the board’s official website, cisce.org.

Due to the pandemic, practical and project assessments will likely not occur if in-person learning is not possible. Thus, the board will replace such assignments with virtual equivalents if the lockdown is continual. School officials must regularly upload scores from all student assessments onto a virtual portal. In addition, the board might request specified schools to upload project samples on occasion.
