NTA released the CUET 2023 exam city intimation slip on May 15, followed by the admit cards for all the registered candidates on May 19. Several candidates have been allotted CUET exam centres 2023, very far from their hometown, spite choosing different centres. Many aspirants took to social media to raise their concerns.
Per an aspirant from Shopian, Kashmir, my allotted city is Bathinda, Punjab, approximately 227 km from my hometown. However, I did not opt for this test centre in my application form. Several candidates from financially weak backgrounds have complained about the challenges they'll face while travelling to far-away test centres. Several bodies, including the J&K Students Association, have written on behalf of affected students to Mr Dharmendra Pradhan (Union Education Minister) and Mr Manoj Sinha (Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir) to intervene in this in this matter and help affected students.
NTA is yet to respond on this matter. However, a UGC official stated that this issue is due to the significant increase in registration from J&K and Jharkhand this year. He added that The main motive for releasing the examination city slip in advance is to give students the time to make necessary travel arrangements.
Over 14 Lakh registrations were recorded this year, making CUET UG 2023 India's second-largest entrance exam after NEET UG.
