Delhi University officials have announced their intention to re-open in-person science stream classes for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Hence, according to the official university notification, science stream students will resume offline lessons from 16 August 2021. Thus, both teaching and non-teaching faculty members will begin returning to the workplace shortly.
The official announcement noted that pertinent authorities had made the decision in light of the declining rate of COVID-19 cases. In addition, Delhi University considered a large amount of practical/ project assessments necessary for science stream students. Therefore, in-person learning will resume for science disciplines, albeit in strict adherence to COVID-19 safety measures. However, classes for other streams will continue to take place in an online mode until further notice.
For the convenience of eligible outstation students, the DU administration has notified university hostel provosts to re-open the requisite accommodations. The request occurred during a conference by the Dean of Student Welfare, alongside the University Proctor. However, re-opened accommodations must also strictly follow government-mandated safety guidelines. These guidelines include adequate social distancing and usage of masks while in shared spaces.
