Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister (CM) Manish Sisodia supported the preparation of minimum standards for the education sector at the inauguration.
Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister (CM) Manish Sisodia supported the preparation of minimum standards for the education sector at an inauguration held on Tuesday, 4 November 2021. Deputy CM Sisodia affirmed that these benchmarks will allow more children to access quality education.
“Only when every child will receive a quality education will we be able to make India a developed country. Since independence, several excellent models have developed in India to provide excellent quality of education to a certain number of students. However, until now no steps could be taken to ensure that all children receive a better education. Hence, it is the need of the hour to prepare minimum standards for the education system, which can ensure that every child has access to quality education,” Sisodia stated at the inauguration of an auditorium and multi-use building at the Karmapura campus of Ambedkar University
The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi has been in office since February of 2015. Born to a public school teacher, Sisodia has been an active proponent of strengthening the education system. One of the first decisions the CM passed after was a radical funding increase for the city’s schools. Since 2015, Delhi has allotted 25% of its budget towards supporting educational infrastructure.
The deputy chief minister added that ensuring the quality of education is important. “Hence, it is imperative to set minimum standards for our education system. Today, not every child in the country has access to quality education. While some children receive an excellent quality education, several others do not. It is the need of the hour to set minimum standards to ensure that 100 pc children in the country get quality education.”
