For some more help with ways to Ace the CAT Exam 2023, here are pointers to keep in mind about the Quantitative Analysis, Data Interpretation as well as the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension sections:
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
This section is all about passages, paragraphs and/or jumbled sentences. Candidates must train themselves to understand and analyse the information given in the passages and questions. In the preparation period, the candidates must go through different kinds of reading material that cover variety of topics.
Something that all candidates must remember is that, as far as the answers are concerned, if they are not within the scope of the passage, it is not the correct answer. The right answer can only possibly be from the passage. Candidates should not let out of scope options distract them.
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Often called the equalizer section, the major chunk of the questions will test the candidate's DI and LR skills simultaneously. When one checks the exam pattern from the past few years, it will be seen that CAT had caselets containing information followed by 4 to 5 questions based on them. The suggestion to candidates will be to start with one statement that gives them direct information and further pick statements that are related to the previous statement. However, if the candidate finds that there no proper links between the statements, then they will have to resort to ‘trial and error’ method, wherein they have to pick up the statement that gives the least number of possibilities and solve it.
Quantitative Analysis
IIM CAT 2023 is often though of as a mathematics-heavy paper when nearly 1/3rd, i.e. 7-8 questions in this section are based on simple, foundational topics. These questions usually appear from topics like simple equations, ratios, time and work, time and distance, percentages etc. Moreover, candidates must have the topic wise formulas at their finger tips. Moreover, they must have a solid foundation in mathematical concepts before they can try out the more difficult exam questions.
Time management, along with pressure handling, skill to observe and decide, flexibility and comprehension of the questions will all be critical in IIM CAT 2023 . The simple answer to how to score well in CAT is good practice and experience.
