IIM Raipur PGPM 2022-24 Batch Starts with 331 Students

IIM Raipur PGPM 2022-24 Batch: IIM Raipur held an orientation event where CXOs, government officials, and entrepreneurs inspired the students. The 8th Batch of Fellows in Management and the 11th Batch of Executive Fellows in Management were also welcomed, in addition to the 13th batch of PGPM students.
The incoming class of students got the opportunity to network with renowned real-world leaders, business executives, and academic specialists. Smt. Shyamala Gopinathan, BoG, Chairperson, IIM Raipur, gave the opening address and congratulated the students on being accepted into a prestigious management school.
Prof. Ramkumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, Prof. Gopal Kumar, Chairperson of the PGP, Prof. Mohit Goswami, Chairperson of Admissions, and Prof. Yogesh Chauhan, Chairperson of the Doctoral Programme, all welcomed the incoming group of students.
On behalf of Prof. Kamla K. Jain, Dean of Academics, Prof. Sanjeev Prashar, Professor of Marketing at IIM Raipur, gave the welcome speech. The PGP 2nd-year students sang Saraswati Vandana and IIM Raipur theme songs while the dignitaries lit lamps at the event.
Prof. Goswami presented the PGP class batch profile and noted that the institute maintained its push for diversity and inclusivity, with 62 per cent of the batch’s 331 applicants being female.
About 36% of applicants are graduates of engineering, 26% of applicants are graduates of commerce, and the remaining applicants are from a variety of academic disciplines, including management, science, etc.
The average amount of job experience among the batch is 27 months. At IIM Raipur, there are students from 25 states, promoting diversity.

Day 1 Orientation Programme
Dr R. Balasubramaniam, Member (Human Resources), Capacity Building Commission, GOI, greeted the incoming batch of students. He highlighted with the new business students that the business world is misunderstood as being an evil world while praising the campus infrastructure at IIM Raipur.
Learning to challenge, innovate, and lead will help one maintain and ensure that business is a crucial part of life. He claimed that for the learning environment to be relevant, the students must be the energy producers.
First-generation politician and businessman Shri Mrityunjoy Sharma gave a brief discussion on “The Road More Travelled” He urged the students to start small, discover their passions, and pursue those.
Day 2 Orientation Programme
The second day of the orientation programme at IIM Raipur provided the new class of students with knowledge of the corporate world. The day opened with a panel discussion on the topic of “India’s $5 Trillion Economy: Economic Way Out,” presented by Prof. Sanjeev Prashar, professor of Marketing, IIM Raipur, to familiarise the students with the current expectations of the corporate sector.
The students had the good fortune to get suggestions from well-known professionals in the field, such as Dr Lokesh Kumar from AIIMS Raipur, Mr Vipul Sabharwal, Managing Director, Luminous Power, Mr Nagaraju Sada, Global HR Head – HR Technology and Organisation Effectiveness (UPL), Mr Aneesh Ajayan, Manager – Performance Improvement, EY.
The second-panel discussion, titled “Getting Ready for Day Zero,” was conducted after lunch. Along with Mr Manoj K Prasad, Vice President – Talent Development & Digital Transformation, Reliance Industries, and Mr Rakesh Sinha, National Head- Acquisition, Senior Executive Vice President, Kotak Mahindra, Prof. Jagrook Dawra, Professor of Marketing at IIM Raipur, chaired the panel.
The students heard from Prof. R. K. Jana, Chairperson of Student Affairs at IIM Raipur, about “Responsible Living at IIM Raipur.” He challenged the students to take responsibility for their activities to make their MBA experience productive and fun.
The concluding message of gratitude was delivered by Prof. Kamal K. Jain, Dean of Academics at IIM Raipur. The new class is now driven and prepared to manage the challenges and discipline expected by a business school.
