JEE Advanced 2023: IITs to Include Class 12th Marks as a Criterion in Admission
With things returning to normalcy, IITs are bringing back Class 12 marks as a criteria to secure B.Tech admissions through JEE Advanced 2023.
JEE Advanced 2023: The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) has included the Class 12 board exam marks in the JEE Advanced 2023 admission. Earlier, in 2020, the IITs had removed the class 12 scores as a criterion for admission since many Boards had announced the results based on alternate assessment criteria.
Previously, the general category students with at least 75% marks in Class 12 and SC/ST students who had scored a minimum of 65% or secured a space in the top 20 percentile of board results were eligible for B.Tech admission and Integrated postgraduate programmes at IITs.

Regardless of the score on Class 12 exams, students must have qualified in physics, mathematics and a language, with an additional subject, per the guidelines of the pandemic year.
However, the decision to bring back Class 12 marks as a criterion was taken after a Joint Admission Board meeting which occurred last month. Therefore, students must meet the Class 12 eligibility requirement to secure admission at IITs even if they score a better percentile in JEE advanced.
As a result of the pandemic situation returning to normalcy, the board exams and schools have begun completing the entire syllabus again. Hence, the Board might decide to implement the original format for JEE Advanced 2023.
