JMI Admission 2023: Students demanding that the Jamia Millia Islamia Admission 2023 for all courses be made through the CUET 2023 are staging a protest outside the JMI campus in Delhi. The JMI had earlier announced that it would follow its own JMI Admission 2023 process for UG and PG courses except for 20 courses, stating a time limit to changing the varsity rules.
The protest is being conducted by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (AVBP), affiliated with the RSS. Students are staging the protest by waving the saffron ABVP flags and raising the slogan 'Stop the admission scam' and 'Bring CUET'. The protestors say that they are also protesting the delay in the university's release of the PhD scorecard.
The students protesting are questioning the university's decision to stay outside the CUET admission process, which all the other Central Universities have adopted. The decision by JMI to not consider the CUET 2023 Score as the criteria for JMI Admission 2023 has sparked the protest.
Last year, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) was introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as the qualifying examination for admission to graduate and postgraduate courses in central universities in India. The UGC has ordered the university to make admissions through the CUET process starting in the academic year 2023-24.
