According to the chairman of UGC, the merger of UG entrance exams such as CUET, NEET, and JEE will be announced at least two years in advance. The announcement of merging these major entrance exams will be made in advance so that students and university authorities get ample time to prepare accordingly.
The CUET UG entrance exam was introduced last year to admit students to various UG programmes through a single exam. Moreover, the CUET UG 2023 application form has been released, and the registration process is underway for this year's entrance test.
In Aug 2022, UGC announced the proposal of merging CUET, NEET, and JEE into a single exam to reduce mental stress on students. However, several students, parents, and academicians didn't receive the proposal well and raised concerns.
Important Highlights
Per the officials, nothing would be mandated on students, and no official decision has been made about merging JEE, NEET, and CUET. Two days prior, Union Education Minister Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan stated that there are no plans to integrate these tests for the upcoming two years.
