National Exit Test (NExT) to Replace NEET PG from 2024 for PG Admissions, Check Details
NEET PG will be replaced by the National Exit Test (NExT) from 2024-25. NEET PG 2023 will be conducted for PG admissions across the country for the last time.
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, National Exit Test (NExT) will be conducted as a common qualifying final-year MBBS examination and as a licentiate exam to allow the medical graduate to practise modern medicine across the country. NExT will also replace the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) for the candidates who secured their medical degrees abroad.
Admission to medical PG courses is conducted through NEET PG across the country. However, NMC plans to replace NEET PG with NExT from the 2024-25 academic session. NEET PG 2023 could be the last separate exam for medical PG admissions.

Who Will be Appearing for the NExT?

Assuming it is held in December 2023, The MBBS students from the 2019–20 batch will be appearing for the exam. The results will be used for admissions to the PG programs available for the academic year 2024–2025. The NExT exam must be administered with sufficient planning, a suitable syllabus, an appropriate exam format, and enough preparation time for the candidates.
