As per the NMC CMBE Guidelines amendment that was announced in September, the candidates only had to score 40% marks in aggregate instead of 50% to pass the papers. However, upon reconsideration the commission found that that retrospective effect in this connection is not possible.
The criteria for passing in a subject has also been amended. Previously, the students had to score a minimum of 50% marks in both the theory and practical papers to have passed the subject. After the latest amendment, the student must score 50% aggregate in both the papers. However, the marks in the theory and practical can be in the ratio of 40:60 or 60:40, minimum. The practicals include practical/clinical and viva voce.
