NCET 2022: Authorities Invite Applications for its 4-year long ITEP

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is now inviting applications for NCET 2022 (National Common Entrance Test). The test will allow for admission into its 4-year-long Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP). ITEP is a dual-major bachelor’s degree offering B.A & B.Ed/B.Sc, B.Ed & B.Com, B.Ed. It is one of the major mandates of the National Education Policy 2020.
The authorities will initially offer ITEP in pilot mode in multidisciplinary central, and state government universities across the country. Universities can submit an application for attaining recognition for the program till 31, 2022. NTA will conduct NCET 2022.
Through ITEP, candidates can complete their teaching education in four years. Whereas the present B.Ed Plan requires five years for completion.

In an official statement, the ministry of education said, “NCTE has devised the curriculum for this course as per NEP 2020 in such a way that it enables a student-teacher to get a degree in education as well as a specialized discipline such as history, mathematics, science, arts, economics, or commerce.”
The ministry stated that ITEP will “establish a foundation in early childhood care and education, foundational literacy and numeracy, inclusive education, and an understanding of India and its values/ethos/art/traditions, among others”.
The ministry stated that the prospective teachers will pass out through a multi-disciplinary environment. They would be grounded in Indian values and traditions & also instilled with the needs of 21st century on global standards. Hence they can prove to be largely helpful in shaping the future of New India.
