The Supreme Court has dismissed the plea to extend the internship deadline for the NEET MDS 2022 beyond 31 July 2022.
The Supreme Court has dismissed the plea to extend the internship deadline for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) MDS 2022 beyond 31 July 2022. As per the latest reports by LiveLaw, the plea also asked about the postponement of the national dental exam and relaxation in eligibility criteria.
Supreme Court’s Observations on NEET MDS 2022 Extension Plea
In the supreme court, Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant heard the case. Justice DY Chandrachud observed and said, “Now they’ve extended the cut off date, you want to further extend the date? Now you’re saying extend it further to October means the medical course will not begin. Because some people will be on this side, and some people will be on the other side. Ultimately the courses will have to begin. We’ll dismiss it,” and dismissed the petition.
Previously, the NEET MDS 2022 aspirants wrote a letter to the Dental Council of India demanding the postponement of the exam. “Due to the Covid-19 situation, the current intern batch (2016) started their internships very late due to delaying their final year BDS university exams. Now they are ineligible to appear in NEET MDS as per the criteria mentioned by the NBE,” it added. The letter also says that 2500 interns will not be able to appear for the exam due to this.
In February, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) had already postponed the NEET MDS 2022 exam date. It extended the internship deadline from 31 March to 31 July so that students could complete their internships before the commencement of the exam. Thus, the NEET MDS 2022 exam, which was originally scheduled for 6 March, has been postponed by four to six weeks.
