NEET PG 2022 deferment has been a constant discussion. IMA has joined student protests & appealed to the Health Minister. Check Details
May 21 is the scheduled date for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) – Postgraduate. However, students have been complaining that the NEET PG 2022 is inappropriate at an inappropriate time. Albeit, the authorities did not pay attention to their complaints. Student bodies have been protesting against it and requesting the authorities consider rescheduling the exam.
The Supreme Court of India has also agreed to a plea hearing tomorrow, May 13. Despite the efforts, all requests have been turned down. Consequently, the Indian Medical Association has decided to intervene. The association has written a letter to the Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, addressing the issue.

Vital Points Highlighted by the IMA to Support the Deferment of NEET PG 2022
The IMA, in its letter to the minister dated May 12, reported several focal points due to which the exam postponement, in their opinion, is the correct decision. Mentioned below is a summary of those points.
- The delay in the completion of the NEET 2021 Counselling. Many would want to re-apply with the previous year’s counselling. Before the allotment of all seats to the previous batch, how can the authorities proceed with the admission test for the next? This is a logical argument by the students and the IMA.
- The due dates of the 2021 counselling and mop up rounds have been continuously extended. The Supreme Court or the exam authorities have repeatedly rescheduled the 2021 admission proceedings. Hence, the final seat allotment is not ready yet.
- All PG applicants must complete a mandatory internship before appearing for the entrance test, which is still pending for aspirants in several states. Due to the pandemic, numerous states could not appoint medical interns. Furthermore, without completing internships, candidates do not qualify for the exam. Albeit, the association urges the health minister to ensure the completion of these internships.
