Additionally, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the 2021 UG NEET exam would take place under strict COVID-19 safety measures. Hence, aspirants will have a 20-day window for the registration process. Afterwards, there will be a three to four-day application correction window facility. Moreover, the number of cities with testing locations has expanded from 155 to 198. This increase is intended to reduce candidate volume per centre and non-essential travel requirements. Testing facilities will also hand out face masks in order to ensure compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.
In 2020, almost 15 lakh students took the NEET exam. Currently, in 2021, more than 16 lakh candidates will likely take the in-person entrance test. Earlier, officials had scheduled the MBBS/BDS entrance test to occur on 1 August 2021. However, the 2021 COVID-19 resurgence had caused the NTA to defer the exam until further notice. However, the 2021 UG NEET syllabus will remain the same despite the postponement.
