The Ministry of Education has released the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings of the top 40 research institutions in India.
The Ministry of Education has released the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings of the top 40 research institutions in India today, 15 July. The research institutes have been ranked on the basis of learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.
The government rolled out the National Institute Ranking Framework, or NIRF, for the first time in 2015. The rankings of higher education institutions were usually conducted by private organizations, especially news magazines, before NIRF’s launch. After being voluntary in the first few years, participation in the NIRF became mandatory for all government-run educational institutions in 2018. More than twice as many institutions took part in NIRF this year as in 2016.
