NMC Has Issued New Guidelines For Medical Education Unit: Check Details
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has updated the Medical Education Unit's regulations (MEU). Up until Jan 31, 2024
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has updated the Medical Education Unit's regulations (MEU). Only by Jan 31, 2024, will resource faculty be subject to the additional requirement for an Advance Course in Medical Education (ACME) or Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) fellowship.
Medical colleges need to obtain the necessary additional qualifications, according to the medical commission, influencing faculty preparation for the Updated Basic Course Workshop. As a result, the standards have been revised (rBCW).
According to the updated guidelines, the coordinator must be a professor or associate professor who has completed the Medical Education Technology (MET) Basic Course Workshop (pre or revised), the Attitude, Ethics, and Communication module (AETCOM), or any other additional certifications like the MMed, MHPE, Diploma in Medical Education, or the Integrated Foundations of Medical Education (IFME) program. An ACME or FAIMER fellowship is no longer necessary.
According to the notice published by the NMC on Dec 27, "At least four MEU resource faculty members in a medical institution shall have additional credentials such as ACME, FAIMER, or similar. However, a significant proportion of medical colleges still need to meet this standard. The faculty's RBCW training is being impacted as a result. The decision to provide a short-term waiver has been made (up to Jan 31, 2024).
