Petition Filed in Delhi HC to Conduct CLAT 2024 Exam in Different Regional Languages
The Delhi High Court has received a petition claiming that regional languages should be used to conduct the CLAT Exam. Delhi HC has requested responses from BCI and NLUs.
CLAT 2024: The Delhi High Court has received a petition claiming to conduct the Common Law Admission Test, CLAT exam 2024 in regional languages.
The petition was heard by the Delhi High Court on Mar 15 for which the High Court has asked the Bar Council of India (BCI) and National Law Universities (NLUs) to respond. The Bench has given 4 weeks for BCI and NLUs to submit their response.
The CLAT Exam has been held in English. As per the petition, the use of only English medium for the CLAT exam proves disadvantageous to students appearing from a non-English medium.
As the CLAT 2024 exam will be held only in English, it will be difficult for non-English candidates to participate in the exam. The petition stated that the CLAT Exam "CLAT 2024 exam would discriminate and fails to provide a level playing field to students belonging to educational backgrounds rooted in regional languages."
