Puducherry Private Medical Colleges Reduces Additional Fees by 50% – More Details Here
Private Medical College in Puducherry have reduced the additional fee of INR 1.2 lakh per year by 50 per cent.
Puducherry Private Medical Colleges: A private medical college in Puducherry has reduced the additional fee of INR 1.2 lakh per year by 50% in response to student and parents’ protests. Soon after, it also allowed students who were barred from attending the internship classes to continue with the classes in the college.
M. Narayanasamy, President of the UT ALL CENTAC Student Parent Association, claimed during a speech on the issue that “The additional fee was reduced from INR 1.2 lakh per year to INR 80,000 following the conversation with the college management. This fee is to be paid in addition to the ‘tuition’ fee of INR 3.13 lakh a year fixed by the Fee Fixation Committee for the college.”
M. Narayanasamy further stated that, “By July 31, 2023, students are expected to have finished their internship. The parents have agreed to this compromise because they will lose a year and be unable to take the NEET PG entrance exam.”
Meanwhile, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has published new fee fixation guidelines for the current academic year. According to the new regulations, the tuition for 50% of the seats in private medical colleges and deemed medical universities must be equal to that of state government medical colleges.
According to the new NMC guidelines, 50% of the seats at Puducherry’s four recognized universities will have costs equal to those at government medical institutions, which will certainly open up opportunities for students who previously were turned away because of high fees.
The NMC informed the deemed universities of the new rules and clarified that adherence was mandatory in a letter dated July 20.
