SC Refuses to Stay Counselling in NEET PG 2022 Scores Discrepancies Case
The SC on Tuesday refused to stay the NEET PG counselling while hearing the plea alleging discrepancies in the NEET PG 2022 scores
On Tuesday, the apex court of India, the Supreme court refused to stay the NEET PG counseling. The court’s refusal was while hearing the plea challenging the National Board of Examinations in Medical Science’s (NBE) decision not to release the NEET PG 2022 question papers and answer keys after alleged discrepancies in the NEET PG 2022 scores.
The petitioners’ advocate, Ms. Avani Bansal, informed the court that, as per official reports, a similar case about the non-access to NEET PG 2022 question papers and answer keys is pending adjudication. There is no official notification of the counseling process, but media reports suggest it will start on 1 September. She requested the court to stay until the final verdict is out. However, her request has been denied on the grounds that it would have far reaching concequences. The Supreme Court bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna has put up the case for a final hearing on 25 August 2022.

The petitioners are a group of MBBS doctors registered under the state medical council. They allege that there are serious discrepancies in the NEET PG 2022 scores. Despite this, the NBE is not granting re-evaluation when it is categorically mentioned that the candidates can challenge the NEET PG answer keys. They demand that the decision not to publish the answer keys and question papers be revoked. The doctors claim they are being deprived of their constitutional and legal right to information.
