UGC NET 2022: Changes Made in Fee, Number of Subjects & Other Aspects

This year, UGC has made major changes to the UGC NET 2022. The administration is preparing the merged application process for the December 2021 and June 2022 cycles. Changes are made in application fees, the number of subjects, challenge fees, and exam centres. These changes are described ahead.
The application process began on April 30, 2022. Candidates can log in to the link below to apply for the examination. UGC NET determines eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship award.
Major Changes for UGC NET 2022
As per the Information Bulletin, these changes are made to the UGC NET examination:

Increase in Number of Subjects to 82
Until now, the exam was conducted for 81 subjects. But this year, UGC has introduced a new subject called ‘Hindu Studies’ (Subject code 102). Candidates can now choose from the list of the given 82 subjects.
Increase in Number of Exam Centers
Last year, the authorities conducted the exam in 239 cities. While this year, NTA will conduct UGC NET in 541 exam center cities. NTA has also issued a complete list of exam centers on their website.
Answer Key Challenge Fees Reduced
NTA releases the provisional key along with a window for objection, before releasing the final key and result. Earlier, candidates had to pay INR 1,000 per challenge. But now, aspirants will need to pay INR 200 per challenge.
