UP Lekhpal Exam News: 21 Arrested For Using Unfair Means in Exam, SP Alleges Paper Leak
UP police arrested 21 people including students, âsolversâ, and gang leaders for allegedly using unfair means during the UP Lekhpal Exam 2022.
UP Lekhpal Exam 2022: The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested 21 people, including students, ‘solvers,’ and gang leaders, for allegedly using unfair means during the UP Lekhpal 2022 recruitment exam. The officials state that these were “individual cases of impersonation” while the Samajwadi Party alleged a paper “leak.”
UPSSSC Chairman Praveer Kumar said the centres for the single-shift examination were in Ayodhya, Aligarh, Agra, Bareilly, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Moradabad, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi.

Mr. Praveer Kumar even rejected allegations, including by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and said, “There is nothing as question paper leak, as a question paper leak takes place before the examination. These are individual cases of impersonation.”. The Special Task Force has taken action against those who indulged in malpractices.
The UPSSSC conducted the Lekhpal exam 2022 on 31 July 2022. at 501 centres in 12 districts of the state. Nearly 2.50 lakh candidates have appeared for the exam. A total of 8085 posts will be filled as Rajyaseva Lekhpal in the UP Board of Revenue, Lucknow, through this recruitment drive.
UPSSSC Lekhpal Exam 2022 Update on Arrests
- As per the statement, the first arrests were made from Prayagraj, where Narendra Kumar Patel and Sandeep Patel — the latter was allegedly found solving the paper sitting in a car — were nabbed following a tip-off and interrogated. Their information led to further arrests from Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Varanasi, Gonda, and Bareilly.
- The STF arrested Vijay Kant Patel, the main accused, from Prayagraj and his two aides Dinesh Kumar Yadav and Sonu Kumar.
- The STF added that Vijay Kant Patel had taken Rs. 10 lakh each from seven candidates. He gave them Bluetooth devices and earbuds to facilitate cheating during the exam.
- It said that based on the information provided by him, separate STF teams arrested two candidates — Pushpendra (Varanasi) and Jaisingh Patel (Kanpur).
- Sandeep Patel, along with his aides Dinesh Kumar Yadav and Sonu Kumar, was solving the paper in their car in Prayagraj, the STF added.

Items Recovered While Cheating
Police have recovered –
- 15 Bluetooth earbuds
- Six SIM cards,
- Six earbud shells,
- Nine Bluetooth devices card,
- 10 mobile phones,
- A PAN card,
- A driving license
- INR 620 cash.
Akhilesh Yadav’s Take on Lekhpal Recruitment Exam
Leader of Opposition Party, Akhilesh Yadav, said, “Now, the Lekhpal recruitment exam paper has been leaked. The allegations of candidates seem true. All this is a trick (‘chaal’) by the BJP to not complete any example so that people don’t get jobs. And the youth works as labourers and peons with the capitalists.”
