UPSC NDA 2021 Examination Now Open to Female Candidates
Admission to the National Defence Academy is now gender-inclusive, as women can now apply for the UPSC NDA 2021, as per Supreme Court orders.
On Wednesday, 18 August, the Supreme Court ruled that female aspirants can now write the UPSC NDA 2021. Earlier this month, Kush Karla had filed a petition requesting eligibility for female candidates. The ruling passed through the SC division bench, including Justices Hrishikesh Roy and Kishan Kaul.
Previously, the National Defence Academy entrance examination was only open to unmarried male candidates. However, admission to the military academy is now gender-inclusive, as per the orders of the national court. The UPSC conducts the National Defence Academy entrance exam annually to facilitate admissions to the institution.
This year, the academy will fill up to 370 available seats within the National Defence Academy through the annual assessment process. Additionally, qualified candidates can also obtain one of the 30 untaken cadet posts within the Naval Academy. Additionally, the updated eligibility criteria is that candidates should have a birth date between 2 January 2003 and 1 January 2006. Moreover, candidates should be unmarried.
Furthermore, both the Naval Academy and the National Defence academy have postponed their entrance examinations. Earlier, the assessments were to take place on 5 September but will now occur on 14 November 2021. The UPSC NDA 2021 will take place offline at 75 testing locations across the nation.
