Uttarakhand state officials have officially granted permission to open schools for classes 6 to 8. Henceforth, most schools have started offline classes for students from class 6 to 8 on Monday, 16 August 2021. The state has already opened schools for the higher classes. The schools are opened following all the CCVID-19 guidelines – sanitisation, social distancing and mask wearing. Earlier, Uttarakhand authorities had closed schools for the second time, in light of concerns regarding the coronavirus resurgence.
Therefore, offline classes are now open for both private and public schools. However, most private schools are yet to begin offline classes for classes 6 to 8. Due to safety concerns, students must submit a written consent letter from their parents within three days of joining school.
Mukul Kumar Sati, chief education officer said “The schools reopened smoothly for classes 6-8 on Monday. Our officials went to various schools in the district for inspection. They inspected the implementation of the SOPs. There are 166 state government-run inter-colleges in Dehradun. Additionally, student attendance is gradually increasing with a turnout of 53%. Moreover, classes will take place both online and offline. I have instructed the teachers to make videos as well and send them to the children whenever they get time.”
