Will Less than 4 Attempts in JEE Main Impact Students’ Performance?
The National Testing Agency is likely to decrease the number of attempts for the JEE Main entrance exam this year, 2022-23.
The National Testing Agency is likely to decrease the number of attempts for the JEE Main entrance exam this year. They implemented the practice of having four exams last year due to COVID-19. However, this year officials are all set to conduct the exam twice. Authorities will issue an official statement mentioning the change in the JEE Main schedule.
The students are demanding to have four attempts as if the attempts are fewer than the chances of qualifying or scoring good marks reduces. Thus, students feel the attempts should remain the same. But according to some experts, fewer attempts in Mains gives the students more time to prepare for Advanced. Also, the academic session can start without any delays.
Saurabh Kumar, the Director Academics of Vidyamandir Classes, said, “The mindset of having 4 attempts needs to be abolished and brought back to the original two attempts. As such there will be no change in the strategy as it will happen in the same syllabus and exam pattern”. He also said that the dates of the exams must be well planned and should not clash with the board exams.
Ramesh Batlish, head of FIITJEE, Noida, said students should focus on their exams, weaknesses and mock tests. Then, the students who have dropped a year know their weaknesses, and those studying in class 12 can join a crash course before the exams.
