Algoma University started off as Algoma College in 1965 and is affiliated with Laurentian University in Sudbury. It was granted its charter to operate as a fully autonomous university in 2008 and thus went on to become the 19th university in Ontario, Canada. Algoma University has three schools, namely, School of Business and Economics, School of Computer and Technology, and School of Life Sciences and Environment.
