Algoma University started off as Algoma College in 1965 and is affiliated with Laurentian University in Sudbury. It was granted its charter to operate as a fully autonomous university in 2008 and thus went on to become the 19th university in Ontario, Canada. Algoma University aims at providing excellent education and a robust curriculum to its students. It is enriched with students from 30 different countries which make up 27% of the student body.

Algoma University has three schools, namely, School of Business and Economics, School of Computer and Technology, and School of Life Sciences and Environment. The university accepts students from Canada as well as abroad, however, international students have to follow specific admission procedures and submit all the required documents along with the mark sheet with required marks and the official transfer certificate.
