SCB Future Leader Challenge is Thailand’s first global business case competition for master’s degree students.The competition is the product of a collaboration between Siam Commercial Bank and Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University, to provide the first global business case competition in Thailand for master’s degree students.  Deliverables:

PRELIMINARY ROUND

Case Analysis

  1. Each team will have a period of six days (from the case study release date until the deadline) to submit a PowerPoint presentation, a video presentation and an executive summary.
  2. Teams are not allowed to discuss the case or solutions with other teams during the competition.

PowerPoint Presentation Submissions

  1. Teams must submit a solution proposal of up to 20 PowerPoint slides and a one-page executive summaryon the website.
  2. The final submission must be in PDF format.
  3. In the case that proposals cannot be submitted online through the website, please email them to admin@scbflc.com
  4. Amendments or resubmission are NOT allowed after the files have been sent.

Video Presentation Submissions

  1. All team members must present the solution during the YouTube video presentation.
  2. The length of the video presentation should be no longer than 10 minutes.
  3. Teams should set the visibility of their YouTube video presentations to unlisted.
  4. To submit, teams must upload the videos on YouTube and share it with admin@scbflc.com

SEMI-FINAL ROUND: Case Analysis & Presentations

  1. The SCBFLC committee will randomly allocate participants into 4 divisions. Each team will compete against the 2 other teams in their assigned division.
  2. The semi-final round will comprise of three sub-sections: 99-seconds pitch, 5-hour short case, and 24-hour business case (for further information, please see the event schedule).
  3. Each team will present their solution to a panel of judges.
  4. During the feedback sessions, teams will receive immediate feedback from the panel of judges. Teams are to listen to the feedback and take notes. Teams are not allowed to further explain the presentation or use the feedback session as an extension of the Q&A session.
  5. Based on total scores of the three subsections, the judges will select one team from each of the four divisions to proceed to the final round.
99-second Pitch

 

  1. Each team must send a representative to pitch an impromptu in 99 seconds.
  2. There will be no use of visual aids or PowerPoint presentations.
5-hour Short Case

 

  1. Teams will have five hours to solve the case and prepare for the presentation.
  2. The solution must be presented with a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation.
  3. The presentation is then followed by a 10-minute Q&A session and a 5-minute feedback session with a panel of judges.
  4. The presenting team will be notified at the last five minutes and last one minute of their presentation time.
  5. All team members must present during the presentations.
  6. All presentations must be saved as a Microsoft PowerPoint PPTX file. The teams’ presentations must be compatible with standard Microsoft PowerPoint suite.
  7. Only advisors are allowed to watch the presentations from other teams within their own division. However, advisors may only watch the Q&A and feedback sessions of their own teams.
24-hour Business Case

 

  1. Teams will have 24 hours to solve the case and prepare for the presentation.
  2. The solutions must be presented with a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation.
  3. The presentation is then followed by a 10-minute Q&A session and a 10-minute feedback session with a panel of judges.
  4. The presenting team will be notified at the last five minutes and last one minute of their presentation time.
  5. All team members must present during the presentations.
  6. All presentations must be saved as a Microsoft PowerPoint PPTX file. The teams’ presentations must be compatible with standard Microsoft PowerPoint suite.
  7. Only advisors are allowed to watch the presentations from other teams within their own division. However, advisors may only watch the Q&A and feedback sessions of their own teams.

 Rules and Guidelines:

Competition Format

    1. The whole competition will be conducted in English.
    2. The competition is divided into 3 rounds:

· Preliminary Round (Online)
· Semi-Annual Round (SCB Tawanron Training Center, Chonburi)
· Final Round (SCB Talad Noi, Bangkok)

 

Team Composition

  1. Participants must form a team of four members.
  2. Each team must consist of a minimum of three currently enrolled master’s degree students.
  3. In the case of a team with three current students, one alumnus is permitted as the fourth member.
  4. Team members must be from the same university/college.
  5. Any participating alumni must have graduated within the past two years (from the registration deadline).
  6. Any participants that competed in SCBFLC 2015’s semi-final round are not eligible for this year’s entry. However, advisors from the previous year may attend the semi-final and final rounds.
  7. Team members must remain in their original groups throughout the competition.
  8. No more than five teams per program may enter the competition.

 

PRELIMINARY ROUND

The case will be launched on an announced date and time in which the team will be notified through email. For this round, the team must submit their case analysis in powerpoint format, as well as the youtube presentation on time.

 

SEMI-FINAL ROUND

  1. The case submissions will be reviewed by a panel of internal and external judges from various industries including finance and consulting.
  2. The evaluation committee will select 12 teams to participate in the semi-final round.
  3. The semi-finalists will be announced on the website and contacted via email.

Location

  1. The semi-final round will be held at Tawanron, SCB training center in Chonburi (150 km southeast of Bangkok).
  2. For those who are not residing in Bangkok, faculty advisors and/or their university are responsible for arranging and paying for the transportation to Bangkok, Thailand. SCBFLC will only cover the transportation expenses scheduled during the SCBFLC competition within the country.

 

FINAL ROUND

Case Analysis

  1. In the final round, the four finalist teams will be given a new case. The teams will have 18 hours to prepare and submit a PowerPoint presentation.

Location

  1. The final round will be held at the Siam Commercial Bank Talad Noi Branch, a Thai historical building that combines the beauty of Beaux Arts and Neo-classic architectures.
