Bidhannagar College, Kolkata was established on June 25, 1984. The College is one of the best colleges in the state of West Bengal and offers value education through various awareness Programmes. Bidhannagar is affiliated to West Bengal State University and has been accredited to NAAC with B+ grade. The College aims to provide quality education to students of the salt lake and nearby areas. The College is a Government college under the aegis of the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal.

Bidhannagar College Students’ Union and Committees:

The College  Student’s Union in Bidhannagar College was founded in 1989. The general body of the union will be regular students as members.  The main aim of the student’s union is to work for the welfare of the students and to maintain a completely apolitical, educational and a healthy environment for the students.  The Union will organize different events and activities with the help of the principal and the teachers. The Student’s Union has actively represented in the following academic and administrative bodies of the college.

The Anti–Ragging Committee of the college is actively working under the Visakha Guidelines and the Anti-Ragging Act of 2005 to prevent any form of ragging within the college campus, be it physical, psychological or even sexual. Ragging-related grievances in the campus can be reported in a complaint and even can be lodged with the college authority/ the Anti-Ragging Committee immediately after any incident. There is an Anti-Ragging Squad to prevent ragging. 

A Local Complaints Committee or Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)  has been working inside the campus to receive the complaints of sexual harassment of women at the workplace. Complaints can be lodged to the Convenor of the Committee or can be dropped in the DropBox which is located outside the Principal's chamber. It can also be done through email or online portal.

The IQAC of the College is constituted under the chairman of the institution with heads of important academic and administrative units and a few teachers and a few distinguished educationists and representatives of local management and stakeholders

The College provides good facilities to its students and faculties. The College is situated on a Sprawling campus with an area of about 30351.45 sq. metres.

The College has an open-access library with a rich collection of the latest advances books. The library provides online access to research journals with internet facility. Students can also access career-related magazines which are displayed in the reading area of the library.

Bidhannagar College has a large playground campus with an area of 7200 sq. ft. The College provides facilities for both Indoor and Outdoor games. The games are duly monitored by a qualified Physical Instructor. Students are encouraged to participate in different kinds of sporting events at the Inter-College Level, District Level, State Level and National Level. A gymnasium is available which is equipped with advanced fitness machines.

The Facilities of the college includes Medical and Sickroom. Students can secure medical treatment from Students' Health Home under the Govt. of West Bengal at a subsidized cost. 

A Spacious canteen is located in the College. The Canteen is managed by State Fisheries Development Corporation, Government of West Bengal. The Canteen is hygienic and provides healthy and tasty multi-cuisine foods at a cheaper rate.

Bidhannagar has a career counselling cell which works under the Teacher's Council. The Council functions in industry placements for students career.
