Entrance Exams & Admissions : Dept. Of law, Calcutta University, commonly and widely known as Hazra law college requires the applicants to be an H.S. pass-out with minimum marks of 50% (general) and 45% (special quota) to appear for the entrance examination. Calcutta University runs the entrance examination named as C.U. B.A.LL.B exam. The top ranks get into this College I.e., 1 to 130 ranks. The exam is an M.C.Q paper just like CLAT. The entrance exam presents questions from all subject that an intermediate student studies. Hazra law college has several judges as alumni. This college is one of a kind as it is the only full government law college of Calcutta University.
Placements & Internships : Internship offers are quite frequent. I have not done any yet but have heard from the seniors about their experience and it is quite worth mentioning. Some law firms visit for campus recruitment. Most of the alumni of this college get into litigation and judiciary.
Fees & Scholarships : The course fee is very minimal. Per semester fee is INR 750 and the one-time admission fees in 1895 which includes the first semester fees.
Academics & Faculty : The college timings are from 10:10 am to 4 pm. It is the only college under Calcutta University which has this timing, other law colleges have only morning sessions. The teaching faculty is pretty good here. The students here are active participants in all the cultural and academic activities. The college has a big campus and a really good place to be at.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There is one hostel in college street known as Hardinge Hostel. The hostel fee is very less. The college canteen offers good and affordable food. This College was established in 1909 and is one of the oldest law colleges in Kolkata. The classrooms are a little old but are big enough to accommodate 125 students.
Clubs & Associations : There are several committees and societies, the debate committee, the moot court committee, the sports committee are few to name. The life in this college is very easy going. The course structure of B.A. LL.B in Calcutta University is pretty good and and student friendly.
