Young Material Manager Award- is for recognizing young leaders and will be awarded to youthful and outstanding sourcing / supply chain team of two professionals below 35 years of age for their report / work done on the given topic of relevance. The work should have a proper blend of academic input and relevant case studies of the practices in the organizations. This award is currently part of IIMM annual award and is being co-branded with Ariba this year. The award will now include a certificate, a plaque and a cash award of Rs. 20,000/- for the best participating team. In order to encourage wider participation, certificate and cast prizes of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5000 each have been provided for teams coming at second and third position respectively.

CPO of the Year Award- to a Chief Procurement Officer or Vice-President / General Manager – Materials or by whatever name called for distinctive sourcing or supply chain leadership and is given for recognizing the contribution of the person who has made a fundamental difference to the way Sourcing and Supply management is practiced. The award will include a certificate, a plaque and a cash award of Rs. 50,000/- only.

Corporate Sourcing Excellence Award- to a company, which demonstrates sourcing or supply chain excellence and sets benchmarks in sourcing excellence for others to emulate and help drive global standards in Supply Management. The award will have a certificate each for the core team members, a plaque and a cash award of Rs. 50,000/- only which they may share or use any other way.

YMM Award

Eligibility: A team comprising of two young persons, in the age of 20 to 35 as on April 1, 2006 is eligible to participate in the Competition. The participants must be at least graduates of any recognized University or holders of Diploma in Engineering recognized by State or Central Government. There could be more than one team from an organization. Independent teams can be formed by individuals from different organizations too. Both the participants must be engaged professionally in the fields of Materials Management.

Modus Operandi : The competition will be in the form of presentations, written and oral, to be held at National level. Each team must submit six copies of the paper directly to the IIMM Headquarters at Mumbai and two copies to Ariba headquarters in Gurgaon respectively of around 3000 words and not exceeding 4500 words.

The teams must make a written presentation based on the Indian business environment. The presented work should be current, preferably executed during the past 12 months, in order to be considered for an award. References to International sources for comparison will be welcomed. The participants should develop and discuss their hypotheses and explore new directions. Credit will be given to original contributions. Overall, we expect all presented themes to be based either on experiences of the team within their organizations or based on experiences of another Indian organization.

The teams may be required to make the actual presentation at the Competition strictly within the framework of their written papers submitted earlier. The presentation should be done in a maximum of 15 minutes and both members must participate suitably. Necessary audio visual aids can be used to support the presentation. After presentation the participants may be requested to elaborate on some points by the judges.

The selected teams will participate in the final Competition, which will be held on 16th November 2006, in Pune. The teams, selected on an All India basis in the finals, will be given the opportunity to make their presentation to a National Audience at an important function / Regional Conference of IIMM and/or Ariba. (The presentations are currently scheduled to be held at Pune on 16th November 2006, coinciding with NATCOM 2006).

All the papers and presentations, once submitted, will be the property of IIMM-Ariba, and no team should publish any of their presentations without the prior permission of IIMM (Headquarters) in writing. The decision of IIMM-Ariba jury will be final in all matters relating to the Competition.

All traveling, boarding and lodging expenses will be borne entirely by the participants.
The completed project paper should reach IIMM/ Ariba on or before 25th October 2006.
The entry form should preferably be type written.
