Placement

At Placement is just one of the meeting points between IPM and industry, and we strongly believe that a far stronger win-win relationship should be built between the two. There are several activities where Corporates and IPM can work together at different points in time, with benefits accruing to both. We invite you to be a part of IPM through the following initiatives :

Summer Internships: At the end of the first year of their PGDBM programme, all students are supposed to take up a two-month internship assignment (summer training) with an organization. This is a compulsory component of the curriculum for the completion of the programme, and is designed to provide exposure to the working of organizations, as well as a chance to apply the learning at IPM in solving real-world business problems. Our students have also undertaken International internships in the past.

The benefits to both sides are obvious : You get strong analytical capabilities for a two-month period, without increasing your permanent head-count. And of course, you get a chance to observe IPM students first-hand. On the other hand, IPM students get the benefit of solving real-life problems in the Corporate world. Several organisations have made placement offers to students through this route.

Live Projects: In addition to the Summer Internship program, several organisations such as IBM have tapped the IPM talent pool for solving specific problems. Unlike the Summer Internship, these "live projects" can be taken up by students at any point of time. Once again the benefits to both the organisation, as well as to students is obvious.

Teaching methods at the IPM include lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, business games, role plays, simulation exercises, structured and unstructured group work, as well as field visits. The emphasis is on involving the students in learning and helping them to relate concepts and theories to business requirements. In a nutshell, two years at IPM equip our students with the skills, knowledge, and analytical mind-set required to identify and solve problems, effective communication skills to communicate these solutions, and sufficient practical exposure to create action plans and implement these solutions

Industrial Tours and Industry Visits are regular feature of the Institute. To give an insight to and to acquaint the students of what is happening at the Shop Floor these visits are arranged by the Institute. In the First year day factory visits are arranged and in the final year Industrial Tour is being organised for 15 days, in which at least five reputed industries are covered.
