Admission procedures- After securing a rank candidate is given choice to fill his application form online and then candidate lock his choices in online counselling.
After getting an allotted seat in any medical college across India, the candidate has to appear before the administration department of that allotted college and submit the necessary documents.
After verification, the candidate gets admitted to that college by paying the annual fee.
Xerox copies of documents are kept in the college and original documents are returned to the candidate after admission process ends.
Placements & Internships :
Internship period- It consists of 1 year of compulsory rotational internship.
A student has to work as an intern in various departments of a hospital. For some departments the time period is 1month and for some departments, it is 15 days.
Generally, after internship the student gets a Doctor degree.That degree allows him to apply for various hospitals for practising medicine. He can open a clinic of his own.He can join any government Hospital as a general practitioner.He can further study for post graduate.
After MBBS there are plenty of job opportunities, be it in private hospitals or government hospitals or own clinic. During internship period salary is Rs 16000 INR PER MONTH.
After that one can earn 45000-70000 INR PER MONTH depending upon the healthcare system he or she working in. If the student pursues PG then he gets a salary of Rs 40000-80000 INR PER MONTH during the study period.
After that, he can earn around 1,00,000 INR per month.Regarding the highest paid salary, it is difficult to assess as the medical course is a vast one and one can earn according to his knowledge and capability.
Alumni network is very strong. In our college, there is a union which arranges alumni meets of different batches since 1962.
Fees & Scholarships :
COURSE FEE: - It is 30000/- INR For First (1st) year. For the 2nd year- 18000/- INR For the 3rd year- 18000/- INR For the 4th year- 18000/- INR For the 5th year- 18000/- INR.
SCHOLARSHIP- 1.MEDHABRUTI Scholarship BY GOVT. OF ODISHA and its Associates. Amount- 10000/- INR Per Annum No.of students getting this scholarship - 95 out of 150 students.
2.PRERNA Scholarship by Govt of India and its associates' Amount - 28000/- INR Per annum. No. Of students getting this is around 15 out of 150 students
Yes, a loan is required in cases of students those who have financial problems as medical books cost more.
The loan is easily available from the nearest SBI Banks.One has to apply for the loan along with necessary documents.
Academics & Faculty :
Classes starts from 9 am. Then after 1 hour class there is Ward duty for next three hours 10am -1pm. Lunch time is from 1-2pm.After lunch classes resumed.From 2-3 pm one class. From 3-4 pm another class. From 4-5 pm last class.
Assignments are given to students. We have to write it down in our records. Practical classes are there for checking these assignments. Project works are also given. These are carried out by a group of students.
Examination- Each year consists of 2 semesters. So there is 2-semester ending examinations. Alongwith that a year end MB Examination is there to assess the knowledge gained by the student at the end of an academic year.
Highly trained faculties are employed to teach us. They simplify the subject matter to us. They also clear our doubts regarding clinical cases, theory aspects etc.
The method of teaching - By chalk and duster. Also by Projector and Powerpoint presentation. In clinical classes the teacher teaches around patient's bed so as to make the student habituated to different clinical diseases and treatment.
Overall, you will enjoy the atmosphere of a medical college. Regarding the study part you have to be a bit hard working to grasp the subject matter. There is also extracurricular activities going on in our college. That is to refresh the student and make him enjoy his life.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
There are 4 Gents hostel and 2 Ladies hostel for undergraduates. The hostel fee is 500/- INR per Month (Only for Accommodation).
There is students' mess in respective hostels in which there is a facility for eating. The cost of meal differs according to a different mess.
Generally, A Veg meal costs 40/- INR and a Nonveg meal costs 50/- INR. B)There are rented houses, Small PGs outside our college.But it costs much more as compared to the hostel.
So, My suggestion is to stay in a hostel.You will get easy accommodation and dining at cheap rates.
Food in college canteen costs low. Generally Veg meals - 35-45 /-INR according to dishes. For Nonveg meals - 50-70/- INR according to dishes.
Classrooms are of high standards with more than adequate lighting, Good sound system, Projectors along with laptops. There is also provision for Blackboards and whiteboards.
Wifi facility is available only in the library and it is of poor quality.
Infrastructure is very advance and of high quality.
The college is witnessing a change thanks to the newly built classrooms, Libraries, Superspeciality Wards etc.
Clubs & Associations :
There is an Union Batch. It consists of around 20 representatives/ secretaries who represent different systems like Academics, Atheletics, Dramatics, Audio-Visual, SSG, Garden, Cafeteria, Treasury etc.
The fourth year students are elected as Union members. They maintain the relation between college authorities and Students. In every batch there is a class representative.
To accompany him there is a Girl's representative. Annual Function- Consists of Music, Dance, Song, Ramp walk, Drama etc.
INTERMEDICS- function where 5-6 medical college participate in various games and competitions like song, dance, ramp walk, Drama, Music etc.
Athletic society organises Interbatch cricket competitions. It also guides the college team in University level football, Volleyball and Basketball matches.
Academic society arranges for essay, quiz, debate, paper presentation, Seminars etc. 5.SSG society carries out Blood donation camps, Awareness programmes etc.
In general, college life is very much interesting.It is filled with both study and fun.
One should know the right mix between studying and enjoying or engaging in extracurricular activities.
