Eligibility Criteria at National Law University:

Eligibility criteria BA LLB:

The Candidates who wish to pursue BA LLB in NLU Delhi will have to fulfill the following conditions:

  • All candidates, other than those applying under the Foreign Nationals category, should appear for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and selection shall be solely on that basis.
  • Candidates should score at least 40% of the marks in the AILET (30% for SC/ ST candidates)
  • In order to appear for the AILET, candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination and scored a minimum of 50%. However, candidates appearing for 10+2 examinations in the year of the AILET can also apply, provided they meet the above eligibility at the time of admission.

Eligibility Criteria for LLM:

The Candidates who wish to pursue LLM in NLU Delhi will have to fulfill the following conditions:

  • A candidate should have passed the LL.B or an equivalent degree from a recognised University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of reserved categories, i.e. SC/ST/Persons with Disability).
  • The admission for Foreign Nationals shall be made based on the academic record of LL.B. or equivalent Degree recognized by UGC/ Association of Indian Universities with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade.Assessment of necessary communication skills in written and spoken English and performance at the interview in terms of aptitude and capacity.

 

Application Process for BA LLB, LLM

Step 1 of the admission procedure:

The candidate should register fo admission on the CLAT official website.

Step 2 of the admission procedure:

Each candidate is then required to fill their personal, academic and other details as required by the form including the programme they are are applying admission for.

Step 3 of the admission procedure:

The candidate is also needed to upload their Front facing Passport size clear photograph with clear lenses (30mm x 45 mm. The signature of the candidate is also required to be uploaded both in JPG Format, with size not more than 100 kb.

Step 4 of the admission procedure: 

The candidates are required to upload the following documents that are needed as part of the admission procedure in PDF format only:

  • Birth certificate.
  • Latest Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC).
  • Certificate of impairment for Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and Declaration by the Scribe in the prescribed format.
  • Domicile Certificate (if applicable).

Step 5 of the admission procedure: 

CLAT Application fees: The candidate for admission is to make the payment of admission application form fees of Rs. 4000 for General Category and Rs. 3500 for Reserved Category either online through Debit/ Credit Card or through offline ICICI Bank Challan.

Step 6 of the admission procedure:

The candidate for admission should then finally “Submit” their Admission Application Form online only. This completes the required admission registration process.

 

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

Step 1:Admission to BA.LLB/LL.M. Degree shall be done through an All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) conducted every year by the University.

  • The candidate shall secure minimum of 50% of the marks in the written test to become eligible for admission. In case of SC/ST candidates it is 40%.
  • The University has a right to keep the seats vacant if there are no candidates who secured minimum cut off marks.

Step 2: Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination can appear for the Entrance Test subject to a condition that they produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

Step 3: The total number of seats will be 20 with the following reservations:

  • General : 75%
  • Scheduled Caste : 15%
  • Scheduled Tribe : 7.5 % *
  • Persons with Disability : 3%

Step 4: Admission for Foreign Nationals: 5 seats are allotted to Foreign National candidates possessing the Citizenship of a country other than India will only be considered under this category. The Foreign Nationals are exempted from taking the Admission Test.
