Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science is a Christian minority institution managed by a Society, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and a Public Trust Act 1950. The Society is managed by a Governing Body whose Ex-officio Chairperson is the Provincial of the Province of India of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary. Nirmala Niketan's Library is growing steadily over the years. The College library provides a basic condition for life-long learning, independent decision-making, and cultural development of the students and the teachers. For the effective and smooth governance of the library, the college has constituted a library advisory committee. The Library will remain open from 8.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on all working days. Every student is entitled to borrow a study book for a period of five days and a fiction book for fifteen days. Books will be issued only on Library Card. The membership card can be obtained by paying a Library deposit. The facilities provided by the library are mentioned below.
The College has an advanced Computer laboratory facility which is well equipped with 37 computers with a network system (LAN). The Computer centre facilitates for printing, scanning and writing Compact Discs where the students learn various software as per the syllabus requirement.
Nirmala Niketan College has well-equipped laboratories for Junior college, Degree College and the Post-Graduate programme. The laboratories have been renovated with good lighting, modern fittings, upgraded equipment and technology. It will match the requirements of evolving syllabus and for performing the practicals.
The College has extended its support to achieving fitness. A gymnasium is established for students’ and for the faculty use. The gym has both aerobic and anaerobic exercise types of equipment under the supervision of competent fitness trainers. The main attraction is gymnasium charges. Monthly charges are Rs 600 and an annual charge is Rs.5000. Ex-students can also utilize the facility of the gymnasium.
A wide range of extra-curricular activities is organized by the college. These activities give students the opportunity to showcase and enhance their talents. The curricular activities are organised by the student representatives of Sports and Cultural Committees under the guidance of teachers. The Events which are conducted in the college are Nirmal Utsav - an annual cultural event and Indoor Sports games and annual sports day. Some other activities planned are National Sports Day Commemoration, organizing treks, etc.

Nirmala College offers admission to various courses via eligibility criteria. The admissions can be done online on the official website of the Institute.
For the admission of Degree, Postgraduate and PG DiplomaCourses, applicants should download Online application form of the University of Mumbai and duly filled in and a hard copy of the same has to be submitted at the College. For PG and PG Diploma courses, admission criteria will be based on the qualifying exam. The date for the qualifying exam and the merit list will be notified on the College Website and College Notice Board. After being admitted, the student has to submit the following documents to confirm the admission.
The selection of students registering for the PhD will be on the PhD Eligibility Test (P.E.T.). The students selected will have to make a presentation of the proposal and should be approved by the panel. The same proposal will be sent to the University for approval of the topic after which the student will register for a PhD. As per the rules of the University of Mumbai, students registered for the doctoral programme will have to reside in Mumbai from the date of their registration till the date of submission of the thesis.

The Institute provides accommodation facilities for outstation students at two locations. one in the institution-building and other in the Goregaon at Prem Ankur in St. Pius campus. The Campus hostel rooms can accommodate two students and some three and has a capacity to accommodate 70 students at a time. There is an allotment of seats across the different sections of the college. Applications are accepted to the hostel only after admission to the college has been secured. The hostel provides a mess which serves subsidized meals and refreshments to students and the guests.
