Infrastructure Facilities at North Orissa University, [NOU] Baripada:

Campus:

  • The university has two campuses. 
  • Baripada is the main campus of NOU.
  • Suleikhamar, near Kendujhargarh in Kendujhar district, is the second campus.
  • There are separate hostels for boys & girls respectively based on their merits. 
  • Mess is compulsory for all the students living hostels.

Library:

  • The NOU central library was established in the year 2001 which is inside the main campus of NOU, Takatpur, Baripada.
  • The library was established as a centre to advance knowledge in the fields of non-conventional subjects relevant to this part of the Orissa state, conventional subjects and some socially relevant and economically viable courses.
  • The library has 23880 text and reference books in different subjects. At present, the library is subscribed to 75 journals and 24 magazines.
  • Efforts are being made for automation of the central library and to provide internet facility to the students.

Sports Facilities:

  • The NOU Sports Council was established in the year 2000.
  • They promote sports and games for the integrated personality development of the students.
  • They have been organizing inter-college tournaments competitions in various sports and games. Also represents various inter-University competitions every year.

Medical Facilities:

  • They appointed a part-time doctor for providing health care facilities to the students, teachers and employees.
  • The doctor attends the University health care centre twice a week and provides medical aid to students and employees.

Central Computer Laboratories:

  • The Computer Centre of the North Orissa University has been well planned and established since 2002 for the teachers and students, to enrich their Internet knowledge and also high-end programming needs.
  • The lab has been equipped with Xeon Quad Core Servers loaded with SQL, Visual Studio, Embacardo XE C++, Oracle, and MATLAB which has online UPS.
  • There are 50 Desktop Computers inside the centre and around 250 Computers in various labs of the University departments that would be served by the 6 nos. of exclusive servers.

Other Amenities:

  • Canteen is there for the refreshment of the staffs and students.
  • Sexual Harassment Complaint Committee is there to combat violence and sexual harassment of women in the University.
  • University constituted their Anti Ragging Squad to take action against the menace of ragging in the University campus.
