Fees & Scholarships :
Fee structure of Ramanujan College is feasible and affordable as compared to other private universities or colleges, but now when I am in my final year of graduation the fees has been doubled for freshers and also for the 2 year and 3 year students, it's around 20 k to 25 k, compared to other good colleges of the Delhi University, the fees is high in our college. Every year our college issues a scholarship program after admissions and they provide scholarship by taking a personal interview, there are many scholarships based on the merit of bonafide students in particular courses. And also private sector companies come in college give a scholarship to an eligible student. I personally don't avail any scholarship. Every year 100 to 150 students get scholarships from the college. Loans are not needed.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
A great choice it would be. It became an independent morning college back in 2013 and since then its growth has been tremendous. It provides me with good campus life and a great learning environment, college is at a prime location with proximity to many eating and hangout places, you won't even fall short of your partying places. The DU admission process is completely online, first, you have to fill the online form and select the courses you are interested in. Also just for your information, you will not have to put your college preference yet.
If you are good at extracurriculars like debate, dance, music, sports, drama, theatre, make sure you fill the ECA forms for good colleges, these forms are available on the du portal or can be taken from the college itself.
There are trials for the particular ECA you have filled in presence of various judges, every college has ECA quota so do check this out. Now wait for the cut off list, make sure you are attentive on the day when cut off are to be released. The site gets slow that time because of so many aspirants checking out the cut-offs so be patient. You will have enough time to go through the list and make a choice.
After you have gone through the cut off lists, see which colleges you can apply to based on your score and corresponding cut off. Now comes a very important step collect the following documents -10 marksheet - 12 marksheet - transfer certificate -migration certificate -character certificate -4to 5 passport size photos College registration form, of the particular college you want to apply for. Any other document / certificate received from your school while passing out just to be safe. Now get xerox of the following documents, atleast 3 copies.
Now note down the address of the college that you want to target. Check for the routes be sure of how much time it might take to reach there. Double check all the documents.
When you reach the college you will be assigned a couple of forms to fill on the spot, you might have to pay for it. Fill it and submit them, the person in charge will verify your documents and will see if you clear the cut off, once cleared he/she will forward your application and you will be directed to pay the fee. This fee payment part may happen on the next day. One thing to note here is that your original documents are not kept by the college from this year, now onwards, the college can only take xerox copies of all the documents. In case you qualify a better college in the subsequent cut off list, you have to cancel admission from DU admission portal, the fee will be refunded later. This is best of my experience from a couple of years back when I went through all this, Hope this will help!
I didn't give any entrance exam, I go through the merit list. I am pursuing B.Com, and generally, the cut offs are high for B.Com and B.Com Honours courses in Delhi University.
Placements & Internships :
Yes, the college does provide internships even I had got an internship at the college in my last two months of 2 years, these internships are mainly for the profile of business development, projects expansion, audit associates. The general stipend is around INR 10000 per month which is pretty fair as compared to other colleges. Placements of the colleges are average as most of the graduates don't get job after graduation. This is because still our college is new and corporate outsides, don't know the existence of our college. But the placement cell of Ramanujan College works hard and is able to secure placement in some of the best firms for its students. Campus jobs and internship interviews are very common which allows the students to get employed without any hassle. Yes, the alumni and seniors are just a call away if one gets into any trouble in the college. Alumni network is strong as a college does remain the contact of people who get graduated.
Academics & Faculty :
Classes begin in the morning from 9:00 am, and teachers are stictly to the time, they ensure they can reach before the students. Faculty is much better compared to other colleges. Faculty of our college is really helpful. As required most of the professors of our college are highly qualified in their various subjects. And unlike other colleges, our teachers take classes and impart as much knowledge as they can to their students. In three years, 6 semesters and 6 times exam are there. If you are back in any kind of subject you can apply for the re-exam in next year, in the particular odd or even semester, whichever it was. They give us ample time to prepare for exams so that every student can focus on their studies and the teachers are always ready for help to prepare for your exams. Examinations are conducted very seriously, no admit card will be given to the students, who lack 67% attendance in the semester. Practical labs are very good with air conditioning facility. The college is easily accessible and maintains a high standard of security, discipline and continuously look after the welfare of its students. In previous years I experienced a lot of struggle availing library and computer lab facility as we have to go to Deshbandhu College for library and all, but now all has been shifted to our college. And the new building is itself providing with lift facility, air conditioner rooms, good environment. The infrastructure soon to be best in all the colleges of DU. The college is undergoing development.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
In my college, till now there are no facilities available for hostel and mess food that is a drawback of our college. The result is that those students who come from outside of Delhi have to face problems and also money issues. That's why many students withdraw admissions or staying in private hostels, pg's or flats by paying a high amount, it depends upon the locality, INR 10,000 to 20,000, there is no hostel facility, no wifi facility, its a major drawback.
There is no good canteen facility in the past two years what I experienced, but it has been changed now the canteen facility is better from previous years. The water facility is still worse.
Clubs & Associations :
The college have various societies, like jazba, tatva, ram-comm the commerce society, nss, ncc, dna, and many more to explore. There are many events which are held by the college, in college or outside college like annual fest, cultural fest, sports day, annual day and many more events like departmental fest, stand up comedy, motivational speakers are also invited in college. And in day to day college life there are different events by college societies. Every year there are some extra activities going on in some different societies. Yes the labs are well equipped in college with fully air conditioned facility. There is one gym and also sports department. Also, some counsellor comes to college for debate program and give motivational speeches to students. The college building and campus area is good enough to attract the students. It provides me with good campus life and a great learning environment.
