Infrastructure Details at Sir Parashurambhau College, [SP College] Pune:

Campus:

• Sir Parashurambhau College spread across the 25 acres of land.

Library:

• SP College has a large library in the campus.
• This library is filled with different kinds of book collections.
• The cultural heritage building is preserved by Sir Parashurambhau College.
• SP College library is the modernized library even if the building looks like an ancient.
• The library has a rare book collection in its bookshelf.
• Sir Parashurambhau College library conducts the verity types of programs to attract the students towards the library book collection.
• Library also conducts some programs just to develop the reading habits in the students.
• This library has successfully completed 100 years of journey.
• SP college library was the initial stage wan in a classroom.
• Then the library was built separately in 1935.
• Sir Shapur Borcha has donated Rs 20,000/- out of which the central library and the first-floor building was built.
• Sir Parashurambhau College library's second floor was built in the donated money Rs 1,25,000/- by Shri Radhesham.
• The second floor of the library was built in the year of 1971.
• The library's second-floor inauguration was done in the year of 1971 by Shri Madhukar Chowdhari.
• The second floor of the library was named as Shau Shantabai Agarwal Abhyashika.
• SP College library has a separate two-floor building in which girls and boys study rooms are located on separate floors.
• Sir Parashurambhau College library also has a central library which is situated in the ground floor of the building.
• This central library gives access to the library collection for staff and postgraduate students.
• The library also has a rare book collection that includes books since the 18th cent. 
• It also includes the manuscripts from Mimansa College which consist of Sanskrit and logic etc.

Laboratories:

• Sir Parashurambhau College has large and well-implemented laboratories.
• These labs contain FTIR, Gas Chromatograph, UV-Visible pectrophotometers and many more in Chemistry, Physics, Botany, in Chemistry.
• The laboratory of Chemistry and Geography has been recognized by the University of Pune as a center where research and experimental work leading to doctorate can be done.
• Botany and Zoology laboratories have a separate museum where numbers of precious and rare specimens are illustrated.
• SP College laboratories have Substantia improvement which has been made under the college science improvement program.

Hostels:

• Sir Parashurambhau College facility provides separate hostels for both boys and girls.
• The rules regarding reservation are made meticulously followed by the hostel management.
• Most of the students from the disadvantaged community, seeking admission, are accommodated. 
• Several students from rural areas prefer to seek admission to SP College because of the excellent hostel facility on the college campus.
• The hostel provides a television facility.

Botanical Garden:

• The botanical garden is spread across the 25 acres of the college campus.
• This garden contains 800 plant species of 130 families.
• Every year tree plantation program was conducted by the college with other organizations like NSS, NCC, Old Students Association, Management and many more.
• Department of the garden having a grass shredder machine and grass cutting machine.
• These machines help to clean the campus and grass is used as raw material for the vermicompost unit.
• SP College botanical garden produces the 7-8 tons of fertilizers every year.
• Every year they increase the beauty of the garden by planting rainy seasonals, winter seasonals and summer seasonal flowering plants. 
• Botanical garden conducts several activities.

Digital Herbarium:

• Sir Parashurambhau College botany department has herbarium of over 2,000 plants belonging to algae, bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms and Angiosperms.
• The Department of botany had collected various species of plants from different parts of India and neighboring countries.
• The first specimens were collected in 1929.
• Digitization of the herbarium was initiated in march 2017 with the objective of making this collection available to a wider group of botanists.
• The herbarium is now registered at index herbarium with an acronym SP College.

Gymkhana:

• SP College has a huge playground and gymnasium for the students.
• The college provides facilities for both Indian and foreign games.
• This college also has an Olympic-size swimming pool.
• The college has a sports center and pool which has advanced equipment for bodybuilding facilities in various events are provided.
• College provides physical education to the students doing NCC and NSS are released from doing P.T.
