The college has been named after the great educationist and visionary Swami Vivekanand ji and wishes to follow his vision about education i.e. “We want that education by which character is formed; strength of mind is increased; the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s feet. Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.” This vision and mission of Swami Vivekanand is the guiding force for us.

Swami Vivekanand Group Of Institute (SVGOI) is situated at the village Ram Nagar near Banur, Distt. Patiala (Punjab) on the Chandigarh – Patiala National Highway. Major towns in close vicinity are Chandigarh, Patiala, Mohali, Ambala, Sirhind. It is approved by Punjab government and AICTE, Government of India and affiliated to Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. The college is well equipped with well lit lecture halls, library, laboratories and amenities. Hostel facility is available for both boys and girls. The campus is having peaceful environment with well maintained green lawns and landscaping

The college is headed by a strong team of professionals with Mr. Ashwani Kumar Garg as Chairman, who is having a vast experience in running institutions, Mr. Ashok Garg as President, who is a businessman and educationist.

COMPUTER LAB:

Along with the multi-faceted campus to go with, a large number of IBM computer systems and strong network with LAN facilities adds a different dimension to the computer centre. The computer centre is equipped with more than 700 networked IBM Desktop, HP Thin Clients, Sun Rays Thin Clients and IBM, HP Laptops machines. The entire system works on Windows, Linux and Solaries environment. The computer centre has 4 MB leased line internet facility well networked in all the labs.All Blocks are connected with fiber optics with 1Gb connectivity support with Nortel Switches connectivity. SPORTS:

Gangsar-Jaito sports complex of SVGOI is surely something to talk about. The Institution has facilities for a number of indoor and outdoor games like, Table Tennis, Bad-Minton, Lawn Tennis, Basket Ball, Volley Ball etc. The institution provides excellent facilities for all track events, well-designed fields and courts along with separate gymnasiums for boys & girls. Existing facilities are being continuously extended.

LIBRARY:

Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology has a well-established Library, which caters the need of the students, research scholars and the faculty. The Library Functions on an Open Access system for the faculty members and the research scholars. But the students have only a limited access it is automated with a wide collection of the latest books, periodicals and CDs. This collection is expended and updated each year. The open access system provides reading and reference facilities for faculty and students. Separate Reference Section has been made in the Library. A combination of online and offline information resources are The institution has also acquired the membership of British Library and the American Information Resource Centre with the purpose of providing free access to their reading rooms and reference collection to the students. The Library offers photocopying facilities too. Learning volumes on CDs are also stocked for individual and mass viewing. There is a computer based catalogue system that provides information on the availability of books, journals and other material i. e. Online Public Access Catalogue facility is provided by the Library. The Library aims to stock all the books and periodicals which the students are required to read while studying at the College.

HOSTEL:

A holistic living ambience contributes significantly to superior academic performance. The accommodations offered by the institution are designed to provide a sprit of independence and freedom yet are as secure and caring as your home. The hostel accommodation at campus promotes a quality life style and sustain it every step of the way. Recreation rooms equipped with television, newspaper and comfortable seating are an instant hit with all resident.

TRANSPORT:

Although well connected through public transport, The institution provides its own buses for the convenience of students and staff at a very nominal fee. The institute maintains a fleets of buses from all major cities i.e. Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Patiala, Ambala, Rajpura, Gobindgarh, Zirakpur etc. Transport is provided for the students to and from the institutes.
