Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun was established in the year 1982. In the year 1986, the institute was granted as autonomous. The Institute is actively engaged in research on biodiversity-related issues across the breadth of the country. To create a state of the art infrastructure encourages scholarly work the Institute has developed the idyllic campus.
On 29th July 2019, The National Tiger Conservation Authority, Wildlife Institute of India and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India, celebrated the International Tiger Day at the residence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India.
