AIIMS MBBS Admission Will Be Conducted Via NEET UG Exam: INICET UG Exam Discontinued Now

AIIMS MBBS Admission: The conducting authorities have decided to hold the MBBS Admissions for AIIMS and all other Institutes of National Importance through the NEET UG exam 2022. However, the governing body of AIIMS, headed by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, has rejected the proposal to conduct a separate entrance exam for AIIMS MBBS admissions. Previously in 2019, it was suggested that the NEET entrance exam for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS, should be distinct from the NEET UG exam.

Reasons Why AIIMS MBBS Admission Will Be Conducted Via NEET UG Exam

Candidates can go through the following reason to understand why the AIIMS MBBS admission will be held through the NEET UG exam 2022.

One of the major reasons behind asking for a separate exam for INI is due to the external factors which play a role in the NEET exam 2022. Often, the NEET exam process gets postponed due to court litigation, heavy logistics and more. Further, the panel pushing for INICET UG stated that by separating the exam for INI, students would not be impacted by the delays caused due to the NEET exam 2022. In the past, the proposal to conduct AIIMS MBBS admission through NEET had come up, but the governing body quickly disregarded it. 

Note: Through the NEET exam 2022, 80,000 MBBS seats are available for eligible students.

Before 2019, AIIMS New Delhi used to conduct the All India Entrance exam for MBBS admissions for all programmes under AIIMS. Subsequently, with the formation of NMC, the MBBS seats for all branches of AIIMS were merged with the NEET UG exam 2022. Nowadays, for AIIMS admissions for PG courses and Super Specialty courses, candidates appear for the INICET PG exam 2022 and IN CET SS Exam, conducted by AIIMS New Delhi. Whereas, for other institutions, the AIIMS MBBS admissions are made through the NEET PG and NEET SS exams. Furthermore, the exam is conducted by the National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences, NBE. The INICET UG exam has been scrapped for UG admissions, and NEET UG 2022 has been upheld.
