CAT 2022: Subject-wise Preparation Tips
The subject-wise preparation tips for CAT 2022 exam have been given below:
Verbal Reasoning and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
In the CAT exam 2022, VARC is expected to have 24 questions ranging in difficulty from simple to moderate. Some questions could be challenging. Candidates can avoid problematic or difficult ones. You can do well on the CAT MBA by correctly answering 10–15 questions. By correctly answering 11 questions from each subject, students have reportedly achieved a score of 100 percentile in the MBA CAT entrance exam. Topics like para jumble, par summary, odd one out, and vocabulary should be the focus of the CAT 2022 preparation. Give two days per week to topics in verbal ability, such as Venn diagrams, set theorems, functions, mixes and allegations, and logs. To prepare for the complete CAT exam, only one excellent book will do (VARC).
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
The CAT DILR section had 20 questions the previous year. LR and DI were each subjected to 10 questions. Candidates who answered 10 questions correctly scored above 95% on the DILR. Therefore, even if a candidate struggles with logic, they can make up for it in the DI phase. The following are a few key areas to concentrate on in the DILR section:
- Logical Reasoning: Number Series, Arrangements, Direction, Blood Relations, Puzzle, Set Theory, Routes & Network, Team Formation, Dice, Conditional LR, Game & Tournament, Scheduling, Miscellaneous, etc.
- Data Interpretation: Line Graph, Pie Chart, Bar Graph, Bubble Graph, Trilingual DI, Approximation, Table, Funnel DI, Data Rectification/Identification Based DI, Time Zone Based DI, etc.
Quantitative Ability (QA)
After VARC, the most number of questions will be asked from the Quantitative Ability section in the CAT 2022 exam. 22 questions are expected to be asked in this section. Candidates should aim to solve 12 to 15 questions correctly. Compared to the first two sections, Quantitative Ability topics take a major part in the CAT syllabus. Candidates are advised to study by solving questions from topics that will be asked in the test. They should focus more on the CAT important topics for QA as given below.
-
Modern Math: Solve questions from permutation and combination 1, permutation and combination 2, probability and progression
-
Arithmetic: Focus on profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time, speed, and distance and time and work
-
Algebra: Linear equations, quadratic equations, etc. are the most important topics to study
- Vedic Mathematics (1 hour daily)
