On Saturday, 26 June 2021, the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) released a portal for students to obtain duplicate copies of their academic records. This allows students to retrieve copies of lost or damaged certificates. Hence, the DADS (Duplicate Academic Document System) will allow those who require new copies of academic documentation to obtain them with efficacy. Thus, candidates can apply for duplicate copies on the official website (https://cbseit.in/cbse/web/dads/home.aspx.).
As stated on the website, digital copies for students who have graduated before 2017 will cost INR 100. However, printed copies will cost INR 250 for those who have graduated in the last five years. Secondly, printed copies will cost INR 500 for those who graduated 5 to 10 years ago. Third, printed copies will cost INR 1000 for those who graduated 10-20 years ago.
For in-person payment of fees, applicants can visit the CBSE regional offices using a prescribed form to pay via bank deposit. However, physical payment is currently not possible due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. However, candidates can routinely check the official website for notifications about when in-person payments will become available.
The CBSE DADS portal aims to reduce any need for the applicant’s physical presence for document retrieval. Thus, candidates can now obtain copies of past mark sheets, migration certificates, and pass certificates using the online portal.
The CBSE regional office will print the academic certificates after the candidate submits the application and payment is confirmed,. The office will then dispatch documents through express post. Hence, the system will generate a tracking number for students to follow for the application status and delivery details. Additionally, the portal allows applicants to receive both digital and printed certificates of the requested academic document.
